Sheet Metal Fabrication
Sheet metal fabrication is a process that uses stamping equipment and universal dies to perform linear bending. Because it uses universal dies, it is more suitable for small-batch, high-variety production, such as machine housings.
Stamping
It is very similar to sheet metal fabrication, but it utilizes stamping equipment and specialized dies, and also incorporates bending, blanking, and hole-cutting. Because it uses specialized dies, it can achieve curved bends, making it suitable for mass production. It is commonly used in the production of automotive parts and home appliances.
Bending
Sheet metal fabrication and stamping both share some similarities with bending, but there are also bending processes that utilize rollers and heat. Using rollers called “bending rollers,” large-diameter cylinders can be bent. Steel sheets can also be joined together through overlapping bends.
Drilling
A process within sheet metal fabrication and stamping that creates holes in metal sheets. After bending, if you want to make bolt holes for installation, you will first drill a bottom hole with a drill bit.
